Female hair loss charities 'welcome volunteers'

Published: 28th of July 2010
Female hair loss charities `welcome volunteers` Philanthropists wanting to do good might like to consider checking out charities dealing with female hair loss.

This is the advice from Constance Casey from Slate magazine.

She noted that such organisations, such as Look Good Feel Better, are sometimes neglected and often welcome volunteers.

Beauty experts and cosmetologists might be particularly appreciated at a group like this as they can make up and improve women's appearance in order to help boost their self-esteem.

Conversely, however, some associations are willing to train volunteers and even if not, support is generally always ushered in with open arms.

"The loss of hair, including brows and lashes, combined with changes in skin texture and color, make a patient feel strange, disturbingly not like her familiar self," Ms Casey pointed out.

Another option could be a charity dealing with children's hair loss, such as the Little Princess Foundation, of which alopecia sufferer Gail Porter is a patron.
