Alopecia sufferer: Female hair loss salon makes me feel less isolated
Published: 27th of July 2010
A customer suffering from female hair loss has praised a new salon which concentrates on dealing with such matters.Speaking to the Coloradoan, Holly Quesada, who suffers from auto-immune disease alopecia, which causes the body to attack itself and incites hair loss, said that Maxine's Shears and Wigs was performing an important service.
The 29-year-old is the inspiration behind the facility in the US state, after going into another hairdresser where entrepreneur Arlene Rivera was working and requesting a wig styling session.
Ms Rivera had never before contemplated this reality and decided to set up her own business catering to ladies with hairpieces.
"It's very important, very important because when you have such a strange disease like this ... sometimes you feel lost and alone," Ms Quesada, who has suffered from alopecia since she was 14, said.
Others who may share similar sentiments are patients who plan to attend a new clinic set up to deal with hair loss in Lincoln next month.
The Lincolnshire Echo reported yesterday (July 26th) that trichologist Iain Sallis will open the service on August 23rd.
