Hair loss 'caused by external factors rather than simple genetics'
Published: 30th of September 2010
Experts have stated that hair loss is not just down to genetics, instead a "result of a variety of factors".Skincare-Expert, a website designed to provide its audience with help on beauty and cosmetological issues, said that the idea that thinning locks are simply hereditary is just not true.
Instead, it continued, many small things can contribute to the problem, including hormonal changes such as pregnancy and menopause - after which the tresses normally return at full strength. What's more, gestation itself can encourage locks to grow more thickly as the scalp retains much of the fullness of its follicles.
What's more, lifestyle issues such as a healthy diet, avoiding stress and trauma as much as humanly possible and certain medications like antidepressants may also have an effect.
Its words may serve as a comfort to those struggling with hair loss, as the idea it is caused by external factors may encourage them to look for products to treat the problem.
One such substance could be Viviscal, recently recommended by the Daily Mail.
