Cancer survivor to support victims of hair loss
Published: 30th of September 2010
A survivor of cancer has set up her own company in an attempt to help fellow sufferers of hair loss.Speaking to the Irish Herald, Catherine O'Sullivan said that when she experienced thinning tresses thanks to chemotherapy, it "totally shook my confidence".
She added that she was gobsmacked at the total lack of support she received and the dearth of information about ways she could get through the ordeal, which she described as "devastating".
Explaining she was unwilling to "mess around" with herself cosmetically, Ms O'Sullivan decided to try working with headscarves to disguise her bald pate until her locks began to grow back.
She has now set up a service, Feelgood Scarves, to help Irish women find fashionable options to cover up their heads for the time being while they may search for other solutions, such as using Viviscal, a natural hair loss treatment recently recommended by the Daily Mail.
