Female hair loss 'not a rare condition'
Published: 15th of September 2010
Female hair loss is not a rare problem and sufferers may be in greater company than they think. This is according to a recent article for online resource Helium, which gave some advice for those who are losing some of their tresses or have noticed locks thinning.
Pony tails and tight styles can be avoided as they pull at the scalp and, over time, weaken hair.
It was also suggested that a healthy diet can help, as can cutting out sugar and alcohol, the website added.
"As women age, thinning of the hair is not as uncommon as one may think, although the effects on a women's psyche can be devastating," it concluded.
The Jamaica Observer discussed a similar issue earlier this week, highlighting the case of Naomi Campbell, who was pictured with what appeared to be bald batches near her hairline.
It was asked whether tight weaves and extensions have, over time, caused her to develop traction alopecia.
