Published: 31st of August 2010
A youngster who has suffered through hair loss twice thanks to alopecia made the top seven of children named some of the bravest in Britain. The Greenock Telegraph reports that the Tele Kid of Courage competition sought to award a little one who has made it through adversity with tenacity and determination to succeed.
And ten-year-old Nathan Fitzharris - who is local to the area - came very close to clinching the prize, after he was nominated following his battles with alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes patchy baldness.
However, the eventual winner was Olivia Caldwell, also ten, who has beat the odds several times with a number of different health conditions.
She is to be thrown a party for her and 25 friends at Funworld, which Nathan and the other finalists will also attend.
In another recent story of courage, the Campbelltown Macarthur Advertiser reported that schoolboy Danny Banos will see his classmates take part in a record-breaking bid for the largest Zumba group.
