Pupils to dance in aid of alopecia classmate
Published: 18th of August 2010
Later this month, a group of 1,000 students will be dancing their way to world fame in order to help a classmate with hair loss.According to the Camden Advertiser, the members of year eight at Magdalene Catholic High School will be taking part in a huge Zumba - a Latin combination of dance and aerobics - class in the hope of breaking the Guinness World Record for the biggest participation.
This is in aid of 13-year-old Danny Banos, who has alopecia.
The pupils are trying to raise some A$2,800 (£1,616) in order to buy the youngster a wig for his bald pate.
Karen Taylor, the year coordinator, said she felt Danny was doing his part to educate the students about alopecia and its effects.
"Initially he didn't want to tell anyone but he eventually took his beanie off in front of the entire 186 children in year eight," she added, praising the boy's bravery.
