Woman turns hair loss into business
Published: 17th of August 2010
A woman who struggled to come to terms with her hair loss is now using her experience to help other ladies.According to the Kitsap Sun, Shari Cupit found it difficult to cope when she was first diagnosed with alopecia - an autoimmune condition that causes patchy baldness all over the body and comes in two forms, areata and total - a decade ago.
Despite trying to hide it with different hairstyles, she eventually asked her husband to shave the remaining strands off.
Ms Cupit claimed she spent years praying for healing - both physical and spiritual.
"If I didn't get my hair back I would embrace and be strong about it. I had no idea that I'd be helping other people with their struggles some day," she explained.
Unable to find a comfortable and stylish wig for herself, she ended up setting up Shari's Hair Loss Consulting and Wig Sales, which provides advice, fittings and hairpieces for women going through a similar experience.
