Community rallies for hair loss fundraiser

Some 130 ins of human hair has been collected in a bid to help children who suffer from hair loss.According to the Cleveland Daily Banner, local facility Avalon Salon & Spa held a fundraiser in which volunteers could get their strands snipped off to donate to Locks of Love, a charity that creates bespoke hairpieces for youngsters who have lost their own due to conditions such as alopecia.
Similar organisations exist in the UK, including the Little Princess Trust - of which TV presenter Gail Porter, who also suffers from alopecia, is a supporter.
Kim Cardin, the manager and owner of the hairdressers, said she was overjoyed at the support the event received from local residents, who got free haircuts in exchange for their tresses.
"I'm really proud of the people here in Cleveland. I've lived in other areas, in larger cities and didn't have near the participation that we've had here today," she added.
