Son of 'Real Housewife' diagnosed with alopecia

Published: 30th of July 2010
Son of `Real Housewife` diagnosed with alopecia A star of a reality TV show has revealed that her son has been diagnosed with an auto-immune condition that causes male hair loss.

Writing on her Twitter page, Jennifer Gilbert of The Real Housewives of New York City told her 3,834 followers that the boy has been told he has alopecia.

"We are devastated. Anyone know anything about it?" she asked the readers of the social networking site.

Gilbert is also an entrepreneur and is the founder of Save the Date, an event management company.

She featured on the Housewives show - a fly-on-the-wall programme which follows the lives of some women and their families in the Big Apple - in its third season.

If she is looking to take inspiration from other celebrities, she could start by researching the current Miss Delaware, Kayla Martell, who is bald after an attack of alopecia and is using her status to raise public awareness of the condition.
