Hair loss 'occurs in different patterns for men and women'
Published: 26th of July 2010
Men and women may both suffer from hair loss - but in different patterns. The East African has noted that each gender has its own particular wave of baldness as it proceeds across the scalp.
For men experiencing male hair loss, it is more likely to occur "in a distinct pattern beginning from above both temples with a receding hairline ... spreading to the crown".
As time goes by, strands may fall out completely or leave some tufts on the side, the piece continued.
However, ladies feeling the effects of female hair loss are probably going to notice a less concrete pattern, as locks can thin throughout the scalp.
The article went on to note that scarring alopecia - a condition in while hair falls out and is replaced by scar tissue, such as in the case of a burn, chemical use or lupus - is also becoming slightly more common.
However, alopecia can also be caused by a number of other factors, such as anxiety or potentially lifestyle, while scientists believe they have recently isolated a DNA facet that can trigger the condition.
