Female hair loss 'is in fashion'
Published: 23rd of July 2010
Women suffering from female hair loss may be comforted by the news that more ladies than ever are considering going bald as a fashion statement. This is according to a piece on AOL News, which claimed that hairlessness is the latest trend, in part due to celebrities coming forward about their own battle with conditions that may cause this.
Toni Love, a cosmetologist, told the news provider that stars indulging in shaven-head looks, such as Solange Knowles, are helping to perpetuate the fad.
"There is an advantage to these patients who are suffering because, with this new trend, they fit in, not being self-conscious of their looks," she added.
And John Capps III, who runs a pro-baldness foundation, praised beauty queen Kayla Martell, who has publicised her battle with alopecia.
Meanwhile, Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has told the Mirror that she is concerned about hair loss after extensions caused bald patches on her scalp.
