Little girl donates first haircut to alopecia charity
Published: 13th of July 2010
A seven-year-old girl has had her first haircut - and is donating her tresses to young victims of hair loss.According to the Times Leader, Pennsylvanian youngster Bailee Yancheck cut off over a foot of hair - 15 inches in total - because she wanted to help provide wigs and pieces for kids with alopecia, among other conditions which cause balding.
The tresses went to the Locks of Love programme, which focuses on helping patients with hair loss until better treatments are found.
Keeping it in the family, the little one asked her older sister Heather to perform the chop, as she is a student at the Jolie Hair and Beauty Academy.
Meanwhile, the Coffs Coast Advocate recently reported that another generous young girl, Millie Stevens, did the same with her own locks after seeing Alopecia Foundation ambassador Stephanie Rice describing the condition on television.
The 11-year-old cut off her hair in front of her primary school, donating the mane to the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Foundation.
