Event held to champion little girl with hair loss
Published: 9th of July 2010
An event held to champion a little girl who is suffering from female hair loss has been hailed as a big success.Jasmine Parker, a ten-year-old who has suffered from alopecia for much of her life, was showered with attention at Ice Cream with an Olympian, a celebration intended to raise money for her trip to AlopeciaPalooza, a special camp for children with the condition.
She even met gold medallist swimmer Staciana Stitts Winfield, who also suffers from the illness.
"When I was a little girl I lost my hair at 12 and it means so much to me to do this now," the athlete told ACN Papers.
Jasmine's mum Breshia said that while having the chance to meet an Olympian was overwhelming in itself, the fact she suffered from the alopecia too was like "two gifts in one" for her daughter.
The event was held at Double Dip Frozen Custard and a fire chief from the local Frisco station also attended, revealing to the youngster that he too had alopecia - but it had never held him back from anything.
Meanwhile, Sue Holderness recently revealed to the Daily Mail her own struggle with hair loss.
