Six-year-old sufferer of female hair loss receives help from friends
Published: 7th of July 2010
The mother of a six-year-old girl who suffers with female hair loss has talked about how touched she felt when two young girls offered to donate their own locks.Speaking to Ocala, Christine Mills explained that her daughter Mya Mills-Monteleone had begun to suffer from alopecia following a vaccination, although this not thought to be related.
Her tresses eventually fell out completely, leaving her bald, but Ms Mills thought that the youngster's age protected her from suffering too much on an emotional level.
"Mya's not embarrassed around people she doesn't know. She wears a hat only at school," she added.
However, two other girls - Isabelle McCoy, also six and Madeline Thompson, aged 10 - heard about Mya's plight and volunteered to donate their own thick hair in order to create a wig for the child until new treatments are developed.
Meanwhile, those suffering hair loss might like to consider joining a support group in order to help them deal with the transformation.
