People 'can suffer hair loss by stressing roots'
Published: 30th of June 2010
Putting stress on the roots of tresses can lead to hair loss, an expert has said.Renee Lagrange suggested that individuals can develop bald patches because they do not take a break from wearing weaves, the Mirror reports.
She noted that this is referred to as traction alopecia.
Her comments came after it emerged yesterday (June 29th) that supermodel Naomi Campbell has suffered the loss of her locks in areas on her scalp.
The revelation emerged during a photo shoot being completed in New York as she held her tresses back while a stylist altered her clothing.
Ms Lagrange commented: "If glue is used it can rip out the follicles and cause permanent hair loss. Afro-Caribbean hair is very fragile."
Recently, the Mirror suggested that women should avoid styling their hair too much otherwise they may experience hair loss, with many unsure about the possible long-term effects of techniques such as extensions.
