Crash diets 'can cause hair loss'
Published: 28th of June 2010
People who go on crash diets in a bid to lose weight may be putting themselves at an increased risk of suffering from hair loss, it has been claimed.According to a TREND article, consuming low-calorie food and drink can have negative consequences for tresses.
It suggested that reducing the intake of carbohydrates, protein and important minerals may harm the body's ability to promote hair growth.
However, this is not the only factor responsible for a thinning of individuals' tresses, the news source noted.
Other possible reasons include anaemia, genes and thyroid problems.
Meanwhile, medication can also precipitate baldness, as can pregnancy, it added.
Additionally, it is known that stress can result in people losing their locks and celebrity Gail Porter attributes her alopecia to pressure she was under.
Now, the bubbly Scot is recovering from the condition and says the improvement is down to her happiness with new beau Jonny Davis.
