Stress and depression contributed to hair loss, Porter says
Published: 24th of June 2010
There were a number of factors that contributed to her hair loss, Gail Porter has said. The celebrity mother-of-one noted that when she began shedding her tresses, she was struggling with stress, drugs and post-natal depression, the Daily Express reports.
She also lost her mother to breast cancer at this stage, compounding her problems.
It cites comments she made to Brighton's Argus newspaper in which she revealed she "felt stuck in a rut, was overweight and down".
However, her fortunes changed and her locks began to return when she met toyboy Jonny Davies, whose band New Vinyl she manages.
She said: "I call him Doctor Jonny and it sounds nice to put [the recovery] down to falling in love."
Porter noted she is surprised her tresses have come back as doctors told her she had the worst form of alopecia.
She is not the only celebrity to have experienced the problem, with Hairy Biker Dave Myers suffering from alopecia as a youngster.
