Hectic lifestyles 'can lead to hair loss'
Published: 24th of June 2010
People who have hectic lifestyles may be more at risk of suffering from hair loss. This is according to a Malaysia Star article written by Sheela Chandran, who said that work stress, poor diets and the overuse of chemicals that may be associated with such existences are bad for tresses.
She pointed out that balding is not a phenomenon restricted to men.
Indeed, figures produced by the American Hair Loss Association suggest that 40 per cent of sufferers in the country are female.
According to Ms Chandran, hair fall in women is often gradual, with the rate accelerating in pregnancy and during the menopause.
She noted that locks are easily affected by hormonal changes.
For this reason, people who have problems with their thyroid glands sometimes experience a thinning of their tresses.
Meanwhile, Ms Chandran also stated that individuals can experience hair loss as a result of the condition alopecia.
