Stress 'can lead to hair loss'
Published: 24th of June 2010
People seeking to minimise hair loss should try to avoid getting overly stressed, it has been suggested.Writing in response to a reader's question on Keep the Doctor Away, Lisa Shepherd noted that worry can take its toll on the health of tresses.
A woman had written into the site saying her 47-year-old friend has been going through a difficult time and her "normally thick" locks have gone thinner.
Ms Shepherd remarked: "The best advice I can give is try not to stress too much about your hair; at times like this stress can take its toll on your body."
She also advised the individual to ensure they have sufficient levels of vitamins.
In addition to this, protein is known to enhance the health of locks and a lack of it can increase people's risk of suffering from hair loss.
Meanwhile, crash diets can also have a detrimental impact on tresses.
