Mum's hair loss poses risk to child
Published: 17th of June 2010
A mother who was experiencing hair loss has revealed the problem put her child at risk.Lorel Nicolette took her three-month-old baby shopping and while she was out, she noticed some stray strands of her locks on the infant, the Stir reports.
Initially she thought nothing of it and tried to remove them.
When she got home, however, she realised something was wrong.
Ms Nicolette took her baby to change her nappy and noticed that her feet looked odd.
It turned out that the loose tresses had become entangled round the youngster's toes and had cut off the circulation.
She, her husband and her mother-in-law managed to remove the strands and a doctor confirmed that the girl's feet would be ok.
The mother pointed out that maternal hair loss peaks for most parents when their child is between three and four months.
Such thinning of the tresses is caused by changes in hormone levels experienced by mums.
