Hormonal imbalances 'can cause hair loss'
Published: 15th of June 2010
Hair loss does not just come with old age, according to comments made by Dr Christina Grant in the Health News Digest. Hormonal imbalances can be a key culprit for people suffering a thinning of their tresses, as can low energy and sex drive, weight fluctuations and fibroids, she noted.
There are many different factors that affect hormone levels in the human body, including pollution, the expert claimed.
Gender can also play a part in imbalances and subsequent hair loss.
Tests, including do-it-yourself saliva assessments, are available to establish whether or not a person suffering a falling out of their locks also has hormonal issues.
Once abnormal levels have been identified, Dr Grant recommends patients consider a consultation with a natural health practitioner to help create a personalised plan to correct them.
According to Mike Roizen and Mehmet Oz, commenting on IdahoStatesman.com in response to a reader's question, fluctuating hormone levels put people at a greater chance of hair loss.
