Many women 'suffer hair loss in silence'
Published: 14th of June 2010
A significant number of female hair loss sufferers put up with the condition in silence. This is according to a Health and Fitness Times article by Meghan Fister, who said that such people often change their hairstyle to conceal the thinning patches of tresses.
Such behaviour can have negative consequences, the writer claimed.
She noted that the faster people seek treatment for the issue, the more likely it is they will be able to deal with it.
Ms Fister went on to point out that hair loss among women is not unusual, with five per cent of those under the age of 30 and 60 per cent of those over 70 suffering such symptoms.
She went on to claim that genes are a significant factor in many cases and it is more typical for females to experience a thinning of their locks over their crowns, as opposed to having a receding hairline or visible bald spot.
Some women experience a falling out of their tresses after giving birth due to hormonal changes.
