Porter's story 'will encourage hair loss sufferers'

People suffering from hair loss will be able to take heart from the story of celebrity Gail Porter.The mother-of-one, whose naked image was once projected onto parliament, suffered from alopecia for five years but is now getting better.
Writing in the London Evening Standard, fellow TV personality and medical expert Dr Christian Jessen said: "It's cathartic to read a recovery story for a change, as this will be a useful tool for us doctors, who really have very little in our armoury for the fight against alopecia."
He added that the bubbly Scot is living proof that people can get their hair back after losing it to the medical condition.
Dr Jessen, who has himself had treatment to thicken his tresses, noted that every textbook he has read suggests alopecia usually resolves itself.
While sometimes this appears unlikely, Porter's story shows that patients should not give up hope, he went on to say.
