Hair loss 'often temporary'
Published: 24th of May 2010
People who are losing their hair should not necessarily panic, comments made in one publication suggest.According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the falling of tresses is often temporary.
It cited the examples of hormone changes during pregnancy and stress as two reasons why people can shed their locks for short periods of time, before they return to their former thickness.
In addition, unhealthy styling techniques that pull on the follicles or cause strands to become brittle and break can have a negative impact, it pointed out.
The news source went on to state: "For most people, hair loss is not caused by a serious health problem."
Maintaining a healthy diet is one way in which individuals can reduce the risk that they will suffer from a thinning of their tresses, it noted.
Part of this could include ensuring that sufficient levels of protein are consumed, as this is known to contribute to the strength of locks.
