'Millions of men' suffer from hair loss
Published: 18th of May 2010
Hair loss is not an uncommon problem, one news source has pointed out.According to Treatment Abroad, millions of men across the world suffer from a lack of tresses.
It noted that the causes of such medical issues are varied and include such things as injuries, burns and autoimmune conditions.
In addition, infectious disease, parasites, bacteria and fungus can contribute to the shedding of locks, it said.
The article added: "Not only [does it alter] physical appearance, but [it] also [has] detrimental effects on self-confidence and self-esteem."
Writing in the Daily Breeze recently, John Bogert noted that men who suffer from hair loss can be treated badly.
He said such people are often the target of bad jokes and can be seen as inadequate.
Mr Bogert, himself a hair loss sufferer, went on to say about such quips: "Everybody laughs, even me, because bald people are required to be magnanimous, self-effacing sports."
