Hair loss 'can have fungal cause'
Published: 18th of May 2010
There are a plethora of reasons why people can begin to experience hair loss and one of them is fungal conditions. This is according to Dr Melanie Wynne-Jones, who noted on goodtoknow that "ringworm-type" scalp infections result in a number of symptoms.
She said that as well as losing their tresses, people suffering from such medical complaints will also have rough, round patches on their heads.
This cause of thinning locks can be treated, Dr Wynne-Jones pointed out.
She recommended that individuals who have it purchase an antifungal cream.
Once this begins to take effect, hair should return to normal.
Fungal infections are by no means the only causes of hair loss, with poor diets, hormonal imbalances, genes and stressful events also known to contribute to the risk of such problems.
One of the ways in which people can try to guard against losing their locks is to ensure they consume sufficient levels of protein.
