Female hair loss often "swept under the carpet"
Published: 17th of May 2010
The issue of female hair loss is often "swept under the carpet", it has been suggested.Writing on Fashionista, Lauren Sherman noted that she has lots of friends, acquaintances and family members who have dealt with the problem.
She remarked: "An old colleague started losing her hair at age 22, only to be half-bald by 27, while another friend started losing big chunks of her locks when a close family member passed away."
Despite the fact that the loss of tresses among females can be easier to hide than in males, it is still a cause for concern for those afflicted by it, she said.
However, Ms Sherman went on to note that there are a number of reasons why locks may start to thin and many of these can be treated.
For example, hormonal changes can be caused by thyroid problems and this can be helped by medical professionals.
Also, improving the level of nutrition in a diet can have positive results in some cases.
