Taking the pill led to hair loss, woman reveals

A woman has been speaking about how taking the pill led to her developing hair loss.Writing in the Independent, Holly Grigg-Spall said that after a decade on the contraceptive method, she was exhibiting various unwanted symptoms.
She remarked: "I showed signs of nutrient deficiency, low hormone levels and immunity suppression - with bleeding gums, urinary tract infections, hair loss, poor circulation, hypoglycaemia and rounds of flu-like fatigue."
The medication also had a negative impact on her emotional state, she noted.
Ms Grigg-Spall started taking the pill when she was in her teenage years and she only began to question whether it was having a detrimental impact when she switched from one brand to another.
During this transition, she had a two-month break.
As well as medication, genes, stress, dietary problems, traumatic medical events and hormonal imbalances are all known to be risk factors for the loss of hair.
