Changing habits 'can reduce hair loss risk'
Published: 10th of May 2010
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important as a means of reducing the risk of tresses falling out. This is according to experts Teo Kim Teik and Dr Sharon Keene, who suggested that avoiding habits that can be harmful to one's body in general is crucial when it comes to preventing hair loss loss.
Mr Teik remarked: "Anything that affects your health can affect your hair."
The pair suggested that eating a balanced diet is one positive step to take, as is getting sufficient rest and not drinking excessively.
In addition, people should avoid smoking as this can also be a risk factor, they claimed.
Meanwhile, Dr Keene went on to note that the chances of individuals experiencing a thinning of their locks are difficult to determine.
She said: "Even if your parents have thinning hair, you may not experience hair loss."
Consuming sufficient levels of protein is one way in which people seek to minimise hair fall.
