Smoking 'can make hair loss worse'
Published: 6th of May 2010
Those seeking to reduce their risk of suffering hair loss may wish to heed the advice of one expert.Referred to as Dr Mike, the medical practitioner noted that smoking can increase the chances of people losing their tresses, MyFox Philadelphia reports.
Commenting on the subject, he said: "Smoking, not only does it kill you with lung cancer, it can make your hair fall out too."
Meanwhile, the doctor went on to recommend that individuals who notice their locks are thinning should seek help as soon as possible.
By addressing the issue early, they will maximise their chances of successfully preventing the problem, he claimed.
His message to patients is always that "you have to do it early on", he revealed.
As well as smoking, genes, hormones and stressful events can all contribute to hair loss.
In addition, suffering a traumatic medical event can result in tresses falling out, as can crash dieting.
