Female hair loss sufferer tells of experiences
Published: 5th of May 2010
A female hair loss sufferer has been detailing her experiences, saying she is often looked at in shock.Writing a blog post on The Vine, an Australian woman going under the online moniker of jeske20x6 said she recently spent some time in Queensland and did not feel as though she fitted in because of her appearance.
She developed alopecia a year ago and noted that the town is "loaded with discomfort for the bald lady".
While a beanie looks out of place, the high winds in the area can easily blow a sun hat off the head, she pointed out.
It is not only this part of northern Australia in which bald women can feel uncomfortable, she added.
The blogger stated: "In my funky and forward-thinking town of Melbourne, I have been avoided on public transport, ignored by the service industry and laughed at in supermarket shampoo aisles."
Another person who has had to deal with hair loss is TV personality Gail Porter, who developed alopecia five years ago.
Now, however, the celebrity is seeing her locks return.
