Hair loss 'can cause loss of confidence'
Published: 27th of April 2010
People who experience hair loss can suffer from a decline in their levels of confidence, it has been claimed.According to a HealthJockey.com article, the problem goes beyond mild embarrassment and can be a "potent cause for loss of self-esteem and social confidence".
It went on to point out that the thinning of tresses can also result in increased levels of stress.
Because this in itself can cause locks to fall out, it can lead to a vicious circle, the news source claimed.
It stated that as the person gets anxious, the existing situation worsens.
HealthJockey.com noted that, aside from heredity, stress is one of the primary causes of tresses falling out.
However, there are other factors that can contribute to the problem. For example, hormone imbalances and a poor diet can increase people's risk of baldness.
The occurrence of a traumatic medical event can also have the same effect.
