Hair loss can be "emotionally devastating" for women
Published: 23rd of April 2010
Hair loss is not a trivial issue for the women who suffer from it, an expert has claimed.Writing on USA Weekend, Dr Tedd Mitchell noted that it can be "emotionally devastating" to female patients.
He also pointed out that while some people believe the condition to be a "man's disease", in fact many women have it too.
Indeed, he suggested that the fairer sex account for around 40 per cent of hair loss cases.
Dr Mitchell went on to state that medical conditions can be the cause of tresses falling out.
For example, thyroid problems and diabetes can put people at a greater risk of thinning locks.
It is also known that a poor diet lacking in sufficient nutrition can lead to people suffering from hair loss.
Those keen to keep their tresses in good health are advised to ensure they consume enough protein and vitamins, among other things.
