Published: 13th of April 2010
Women can find the process of losing their hair particularly difficult, it has been suggested.According to a blog post on 121doc, the problem of tresses falling out can be "especially traumatic" for females.
The news source states that societal pressures contribute to the bad feelings women experience when going through hair loss.
Writer Elizabeth Steel, it noted, said she no longer felt attractive when she began to shed her hair and she believed her husband would not want her any more.
She remarked: "The psychological impact is dreadful."
It went on to cite the example of TV presenter Gail Porter, who had alopecia for five years.
The Scot was quoted as saying: "People stared. Sometimes I held my head up high and other times I just didn't want to go out."
Now, the bubbly mother-of-one has begun to get her tresses back and thanks her new-found happiness for the development.
