Watercress good for baldness?

Published: 31st of March 2010
Watercress good for baldness? People concerned about thinning hair may like to stock up on watercress, as the vegetable reportedly comes with anti-balding measures.

This was the belief of the Anglo-Saxons and the Romans, with the former also apparently applying the food externally as well, the Guardian reports.

Other powers aside from stimulating hair growth have also been afforded watercress in the past, with Irish ascetic hermits believing it to be a pure food.

And it was used by Xerxes, the Persian King and Greek general Xenophon, who both made their troops eat it in order to aid decision-making, while, the news source observed, "almost everyone" considers it to be an aphrodisiac.

"The health claims made on behalf of watercress are some of the most spectacular of any so-called 'superfood'," it continued.

Oneindia recently reported that a healthy diet can help maintain locks, with the consumption of plenty of eggs, fish, broccoli and spinach important.
