Women suffering hair loss due to menopause issued advice
Published: 18th of March 2010
Women whose locks are thinning as a result of the menopause have been issued advice.According to nurse practitioner Angela Tursman, people should limit their exposure to xenoestrogens, which are chemicals that mimic hormones' effects on the body, the Gary Post Tribune reports.
Such substances can be found in a range of things, including plastics, pesticides, personal care products and cleaning agents.
When women develop oestrogen dominance, they can experience a number of side effects, such as hair loss and weight gain, the article noted.
Ms Tursman stated that by avoiding contact with xenoestrogens, reducing stress and exercising, it is possible to reverse the hormonal imbalance.
She added: "There are no textbook answers; it's so individualised. You may go through a variety of things before you find out what's right for you. Try a Plan B."
Another way in which people can attempt to combat hair loss is by ensuring they consume sufficient levels of protein.
