Celebrity's hair loss recovery 'will serve as inspiration'
Published: 18th of March 2010
The re-growth of Gail Porter's locks will serve as an inspiration to others affected by hair loss, it has been claimed.According to Now Magazine Online, her story could be encouraging for alopecia sufferers.
The TV personality has appeared on Five show The Wright Stuff and the publication said it was "thrilled" to see that she was winning her battle with the medical condition.
Five years ago, she developed alopecia areata, which turned into alopecia totalis - meaning she lost all the tresses from her scalp.
The NHS notes that such severe hair fall is relatively uncommon, with one in five of those diagnosed with alopecia areata progressing to this form of the disease.
Commenting on the return of her locks, Gail said: "I've been bald for so long now - it's been five years - and 75 per cent of my hair has come back."
She went on to note that it is now black, which she finds strange as it was blonde before she experienced alopecia.
