Female hair loss sufferers placing too much pressure on themselves?
Published: 5th of March 2010
Women suffering from hair loss may be placing too much pressure on themselves concerning their images.According to Dr Dawn Harper, a presenter on Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies programme, females in the UK feel as though they should look like celebrities.
She stated: "We are bombarded with images of beautiful celebrities" who have access to personal trainers, makeup artists, hairdressers and stylists.
Dr Harper added: "They [also] have the benefit of the best photographers and the odd airbrush."
It is not practical to attempt to replicate the images seen in the media, the expert went on to note.
According to new research from TENA Lady, over half of women polled (53 per cent) believed they are judged on their appearance when they meet someone new.
In addition, 48 per cent revealed they rely on their looks to impress new people, while 38 per cent try to make a good impression with their intellect.
