Male hair loss sufferers 'may feel they've lost their virility'
Published: 26th of February 2010
Men who suffer from balding may feel as though they have lost some of their sense of identity, it has been suggested.Writing in response to a reader problem in the Daily Telegraph, Graham Norton said the medical condition can have a psychological impact on people.
He commented: "Like Samson in the Bible, men feel they have lost some of their virility as they wave farewell to their boyish locks down a plug hole."
The comedian - who has presented his own programme on Channel 4 and has also appeared in shows such as Father Ted - made his remarks after a woman referred to as Laura said she discovered hair loss treatments in her husband's sponge bag.
She revealed that, while she always knew her spouse was sensitive about his receding hair line, she was not aware that it was worrying him to that extent.
The pair have never discussed the issue, she noted.
