Matt Lucas: Hair loss was not the cause of overeating

Published: 25th of February 2010
Matt Lucas: Hair loss was not the cause of overeating Comedian and actor Matt Lucas has said that the fact he suffers from hair loss is not the reason he has a tendency to overeat.

The celebrity shed his locks at the age of six due to the medical condition alopecia, the Daily Mail reports.

When asked whether this may have contributed to his putting on excess weight, he said it had not.

The comedian, who has recently succeeded in shedding the pounds, said: "People often look for deep psychological and emotional reasons why people eat and I'm sure for many people those exist."

However, in his own case, it was greed that caused him to consume too much food, he added.

While losing his hair may not have had a major psychological impact on Matt, this is not the case for all those who suffer from the condition.

The NHS points out that many of those who lose their tresses can experience a decline in self-esteem and confidence.
