Woman helps people with hair loss
Published: 1st of February 2010
A woman who lost her daughter to cancer four years ago has established a salon which helps women suffering from hair loss conditions.Cheryl McMillan opened Textures Salon last year in a bid to help alopecia sufferers find wigs which they feel confident wearing, the Iowa City Press Citizen reports.
According to the publication, she now has clients from all over Eastern Iowa who suffer from alopecia.
There are various types of the condition, with one being alopecia areata - which the NHS suggests affects around one in 100 people, predominantly teenagers and young adults.
Ms McMillan claimed that the most satisfying part of her jobs is finding the right look for a customer.
She remarked: "You can see their face just light up and their husband or daughter that is with them really like it and encourage them."
This a "great feeling", she went on to say, adding that her daughter would be happy if she could see what has been achieved.
