Assumptions made about men with hair loss, study shows
Published: 1st of February 2010
A number of assumptions are made concerning men with hair loss, a study has revealed.According to a poll conducted by Nutraceutical Research Innovations, women tend to have preconceptions about bald males.
For example, over half of the 355 female respondents perceived men with a full head of hair to be better at Scrabble than those who had shed their locks.
Meanwhile, bald men were identified as more likely to be fans of singer and actress Miley Cyrus.
In addition, men without hair were viewed as more likely to eat meat, while their full-headed counterparts were seen to have a higher chance of being a practicing vegan.
The most common form of hair loss is referred to as androgenic alopecia, or male-pattern baldness and it can affect both men and women.
While in some cases the condition is only temporary, it can lead to problems with confidence and self-esteem among sufferers.
