Proper nutrition 'helps hair'
Published: 15th of January 2010
People should ensure they are meeting their nutritional needs if they want their hair to remain healthy, an expert has said.According to scalpologist Kamini Jha, "proper nutrition" is crucial for this purpose, particularly during the winter, the Hindu reports.
He also recommended keeping the scalp clean and exercising caution when using cosmetic treatments.
Indeed, recent reports in the Daily Mail suggested that US pop star Britney Spears may be suffering from hair loss, caused in part by years of cosmetic treatments and hair extensions.
Those keen to keep their locks in good shape were also advised by Dr Veena Aggarwal of the VLCC Group to avoid using strong shampoos or soaps, as this can cause hair to become brittle and fragile.
The expert added that excessive blow-drying also "causes hair fall".
Dr Aggarwal went on to suggest that winter "is high maintenance time for the hair", meaning people may struggle more to keep it in good health.
