Hair loss 'can be tough for actors'
Published: 11th of January 2010
Actors can struggle to come to terms with hair loss because of the possible affect it has on their careers, it has been claimed.According to a Back Stage article by Paul Haber, it can impact on people's confidence and self-esteem.
He remarked: "Unfortunately, it's an ego blow that some men find too much to take, especially those in the public eye, especially when you've got leading-man looks."
Some of the those who begin to lose their hair opt to wear hairpieces to conceal the fact.
Actor Andrew Boyer was one such person. In his early 30s, he began going bald and chose to don a wig in front of the cameras.
A quarter of a century later, he has grown into his looks and wears the hairpiece much less often.
Recently, president of the American Hair Loss Council Peggy Thornhill suggested that hair loss can be "devastating" for those it affects, 2TheAdvocate reported.
