Published: 8th of January 2010
Hair loss can be a issue of considerable concern to sufferers, according to comments made by one expert.President of the American Hair Loss Council Peggy Thornhill stated that "it can be devastating" for the individuals it affects, 2TheAdvocate reports.
The news resource went on to point out that former tennis ace Andre Agassi revealed in his new book Open that he was troubled by his loss of hair.
In the memoirs, he mentioned a failing hairpiece which he tried before the 1990 French Open and his confession to his first wife-to-be, Brooke Shields, that he wore a wig.
Meanwhile, salon owner Ken Taylor claimed that only one in ten people with the condition do not mind, while the remaining 90 per cent do.
According to 2TheAdvocate, hair loss is a difficult situation and it is not made easier by the fact that there are "myriad" reasons for it.
For example, in some people it is caused by alopecia areata, which affects about one in 100 people.
