Consumers avoiding hair loss through healthy eating?
Published: 13th of November 2009
Good nutrition is becoming more of a concern for consumers, research has found.Almost all of the respondents to a survey by marketing firm Colman Brohan Davis said they "always" or "sometimes" read nutritional labels before buying food.
Protein - a nutrient known to be important in helping to prevent hair loss - was among the details people are typically influenced by.
Those questioned were also asked to rank 12 factors in order of importance, with chief executive of the company Lori Colman noting that taste and cost were top as expected.
But ingredients and nutrition labels came third and fourth respectively and she commented: "Consumers are steadily marching toward healthier eating. They are careful about spending but want to make better choices."
Those concerned about thinning hair as a result of poor nutrition may wish to seek treatment, particularly as Dr Sarah Stacey recently wrote for Good Housekeeping magazine that iron and protein are key to keeping hair healthy.
