Hair loss problems to arise as Brits miss work over stress?
Published: 11th of November 2009
Stress is a major reason for people to be absent from work, research has shown.A study by Mercer revealed that women in particular are affected by the condition, with rates for stress-related illnesses twice as high as for men.
Based on analysis of companies' sickness records, the research found that one in three sick days fall on a Monday and the consultancy firm's Phiroze Bilimoria suggested that frequent short-term absences can indicate low morale.
Stress can have a number of negative side effects in terms of health, one of which is known to be hair loss. As such, more people may be seeking treatment for this condition as a result of widespread anxiety.
And director of the International Stress Management Association Jenny Edwards remarked: "Stress in itself isn't an illness, but it causes, exacerbates and contributes to illnesses," adding that people could be taking time off work as a result of a range of related problems.
