Celebrities 'blame shock and stress' for hair loss
Published: 6th of November 2009
The potential for shock or stressful events to cause hair loss has been highlighted through the cases of a number of celebrities.According to the Sun, comedian Matt Lucas believes the trauma caused by a car accident when he was young may have contributed, although genetic factors may also have been involved as his father suffered hair loss as a teenager.
Olympic swimmer Duncan Goodhew, meanwhile, began to be affected by alopecia at the age of 11 and the news source noted that he blames the shock caused by a fall from a tree for this.
Other famous faces highlighted as having suffered hair loss included Italian football referee Pierluigi Collina and actor Patrick Stewart, who secured a role early in his career by presenting himself "two actors for the price of one" - with and without a wig.
Former tennis champion Pat Cash, meanwhile, has stated that he uses hair loss treatments as a preventative measure, due to a history of the problem in his family.
