Hair loss 'prompting lifestyle changes' for women
Published: 3rd of November 2009
More than half of women who have experienced thinning hair have been prompted to make lifestyle changes as a result, according to a survey.Health and beauty company Peter Lamas Products revealed that 34 per cent have noticed hair loss to some degree or wish their hair was fuller.
And of those who have made changes, washing hair less frequently and beginning to wear hats were among the common measures.
Stylist and founder of the firm Peter Lamas highlighted the fact that the condition can have a significant impact on daily lives.
"Thinning hair can cause some women to feel self conscious, leading them to hide behind hats or wear their hair in ponytails," he said, adding that the latter move can cause even more damage by weakening the hair shaft.
Dietician Dawn Jackson Blatner recently highlighted another potential cause of hair loss, telling Delicious Living that a lack of protein in the diet can result in weaker follicles.
